Tianjin Ruiyuan has been providing all kinds of litz wire for over 20 years, such as ordinary litz wire, silk covered litz wire, Profiled litz wire, Taped litz wire and so on.
Sometimes, we also change its name to Stranded litz wire, some customers asked us what is the difference between litz wire and stranded wire? Here is the brief introduction about that.

Structural Design and Performance Characteristics
Conventional stranded wire bundles multiple solid conductors together, primarily to improve mechanical flexibility. However, at high frequencies, the "skin effect" causes current to concentrate near the wire's surface, increasing AC resistance. Litz wire addresses this limitation through a specialized construction: individually insulated strands are woven in a precisely transposed pattern, ensuring each strand occupies every position in the cable cross-section over a length interval. This design equalizes flux linkage and distributes current uniformly across all strands, dramatically reducing AC losses. Manufacturers like Tianjin Ruiyuan offer diversified litz wire variants, including silk covered litz wire for better winding, profiled litz wire with shaped conductors for compact winding, extruded litz wire with ETFE PTFE for higher heat resistance, and
Application Scenarios and Selection Criteria
While conventional stranded wire suffices for low-frequency power transmission (e.g., household wiring), litz wire excels in high-frequency applications where minimizing eddy current losses is critical. It is indispensable in high-efficiency transformers, induction heating coils, and wireless charging systems. The key distinction lies in frequency response: for sub-50kHz applications, standard stranded wire may be adequate, but beyond this threshold, stranded litz wire or more complex litz configurations become necessary to maintain efficiency and thermal stability.
Insulation
Litz wire with its single wire insulation, however stranded wire with bare single wire. Some customers asked to add extra insulation out of the strand wire.
